Melanie Montgomery Brannan

Biography

I've been an artist all my life. The early working years were spent in the corporate world. I founded my graphic design company, Brannan Design, in Dallas, Texas, in 1985, working with a wide range of clients, from small businesses to Fortune 100 companies. Brannan Design’s client list included Neiman Marcus (for 25 years, working directly with Stanley Marcus on various projects), DFW International Airport, Alliance Development Company, Mary Kay, Penson Worldwide, and Mobil Oil Corporation. Prior to that time, I worked as a Senior Art Director at Hill & Knowlton on accounts that included Republican National Convention, DART, and Dr Pepper. I also worked as an Art Director at Ogilvy & Mather. Throughout this time, I received a variety of awards from Mead Top 60, International Association of Business Communicators, Potlatch, Texas Public Relations Association, Matrix, TOPS, the Printing Industry Association, and the American Institute of Graphic Arts.

In 2008, I went back to my first love, painting. I am presently a fine artist and teacher, working exclusively in acrylic. My work has been exhibited in five solo shows in Dallas, and juried exhibitions across in the U.S. I also teach classes for adults and children, and host corporate events in my studio and on location. I’ve conducted creative workshops in France, Italy, Alabama, Oklahoma and New Mexico. I paint with my heart as much as my brush. My current series is called, “Serenity," which contains contemporary abstract landscapes. Each piece represents my creative spirit. I find peace in painting and hope that people who view my pieces might experience the same feeling of peace. I find inspiration from nature and the masters such as Cezanne, Van Gogh, and Matisse.

In 2017, I was selected to become a Certified Educator for GOLDEN Artist Colors, for the North Texas region. After a week of intense training in New Orleans, I joined the elite group of international artist to be able to teach workshops utilizing all of their products. Since then, I have used GOLDEN exclusively and am very honored to be one of their Educators.

I am a native Louisianan and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Louisiana Tech University. I love the country, horses, and sunsets. I live by White Rock Lake in Dallas with three rescue sibling cats, and the sweetest black dog, Rebel.
