This is such a fun group to join, it's my fifth class to teach for PAL with students from California, New Mexico to New York City! During this four-week class, we will create paintings from Santa Fe's famous Canyon Road and Madrid. Using GOLDEN hard Molding Paste, we will create a mountain scene with livestock, fall landscape, Aspen trees, and a mixed media abstract piece using paste and found objects. You will be led step-by-step to create beautiful landscapes and a contemporary abstract. The supply list is available on the PAL website for local purchase or from DickBlick.com. The paints are the same from the past 4 classes, each class I will add new gel or paste. Sign up at: https://www.pacificartleague.org/class/?eventtemplate=719-paint-the-art-of-santa-fe

Faux Gold Leaf: on a sheet of tissue paper (doesn’t matter what color) paint a section approximately 6 x 6. Let dry. Cut into 1” squares. Don’t make your squares perfect!

It's helpful if you print the image for reference.

CLASS ONE: IMPASTO LANDSCAPE:

Prior to class, paint your substrate (canvas) with a mixture of Quinacridone Magenta, Phthalo Blue and White. You can paint it with different shades like the example or the same shade. If you prefer more blue/green background, use Phthalo Blue, Phthalo Grn/Hookers Grn and White. It’s your choice. (This is on the PDF file.) If you have masking tape, tape the edges like I have in the PDF file. If you don’t have masking tape, it’s not a problem.
